Home E-mail About Petersfield About PAinT Venues

PAinT began as an Artists' trail featuring 40 artists and 20 venues. Over three years this number has grown to 70 artists and 45 venues. Every year uncovers more talent and creativity in Petersfield and the surrounding area.

For 9 days the town springs to life with artists and visitors not only from the UK but also from abroad.

We now run many workshops which have included:- photography, rug making, indigo dying, feltmaking paper making, painting, print making, icon paining and pottery. We have also had cake decoration, photography and flower arranging demonstrations.

There are guided walks through Petersfield and we have had talks on everything from Wedding dresses to Bob Dylan.

At the weekends there is street entertainment, face painting, hair wraps, fiddlers and Morris dancers.

We have Painting and Photography competitions for both children and adults.

Musically Petersfield already has a strong tradition and we now have concerts ranging from classical to folk.

Creative writing doesn't get a miss either, we have book signings and authors come and talk about their books. You can listen to poetry readings and watch drama.

All this and more, not to forget the African drumming sessions.

Many of our venues are in interesting historic houses and other fascinating places such as the Physic Garden and St. Peter's Church, The Methodist Church Hall, not to forget our own commercial galleries which take part Academy Arts, The Dragon Street Gallery and One Tree Books .

To round it all off you can sample special menus, designed for the PAinT week by many local restaurants, some of national renown.

In 2007 as well as the above activities, you may also find poetry on the street, come and chat to the artists about their work and listen to them giving talks about their varied experiences as artists. There will be The Children's Exhibition in Petersfield Library and even more music this year. Come and be inspired.
